General Conference October 2011

I so seldom post anything here. I really have something to say today!

I am here to declare that my favorite holiday is now and forever General Conference! I hadn't particularly thought of General Conference this way until I read this in the September Ensign: "I grew up in a home where general conferences were as much anticipated as a holiday." ("A General Conference Just For Me"). That thought dwelt on my mind as General Conference approached, and I realized that the description is perfect! In fact, we DO look forward to Conference with that anticipation, and the enjoyment of it fulfills every expectation! And with such a joyous mindset, we truly savored this Conference weekend. The music, the words of the prophet, the inspiring talks one right after another, the time with family ... what a joy! No other holiday tops it! Two days! Not just once a year, but twice! Beautiful times of year for both! It doesn't coincide with any other holiday except Easter; how perfect is that! It's even a holiday from our church callings! And: no purchase required! There isn't anything I don't love about General Conference.
